Decommissioning

The challenge

Effective management of toxic gas and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) during decommissioning.

Toxic gases and NORM are top priority risks during the decommissioning process, which is why active monitoring is crucial to prevent injuries and incidents.

The solution

Maersk H2S Safety Services employs experienced Gas Safety and Radiation Protection Supervisors trained in measuring, detecting and monitoring gas, as well as radioactivity while handling NORM contingencies on-site.

All supervisors have gained competencies in gas safety, and the safe handling of Radioactive Material should Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) occur.

Maersk H2S Safety Services use the newest technologies in gas detection, with fast deployment of wireless gas detection system, which creates a safe and strong network, measuring 24/7 for toxic gases. This will protect and warn the persons on board the installation before any hazardous situation occurs.

All personnel on deck involved in the work will also be equipped with breathing apparatus and personal gas detector, which ensures protection and quick warning in case of the presence of toxic gases.
